In the Twilight
In the Twilight
Still enjoying the blue palette when I painted this landscape earlier this year. I have always preferred to get away from the traditional landscape format and have now taken this portrait shape even further in a recent series of oblong narrow paintings. These sections of landscape are quite helpful with the all important process of ‘editing’ the image.

Flight of Fantasy
Flight of Fantasy
This painting was experimental and moves away from my regular style. I became absorbed by the shapes and tones giving a lot of thought to each form as it was created. The patterns on the slopes reflect the ‘slippage’ that occurs on the chalk downlands of Cranbourn Chase in Dorset.

Flight over the Downs
Flight over the Downs
This was the start of my ‘blue period’ !
I wanted to limit my palette and in this particular instance focus on a wide range of blues. It is a painting that while it is based on a Dorset landscape where I walk the dog, it has taken a fanciful flight with the birds into something which is faintly surreal.
